Ferguson Construction completed a large renovation project for the University of Dayton in the summer of 2009 that required a massive amount of work in just a short period of time. The construction work was performed to bring a 50 year old dorm up to modern standards and building codes.

Involving the entire Stuart Complex (Sheehy, Adele and Meyer Halls) and totalling approximately 133,430 sq. ft., the project had only 63 working days to complete.

The complexity of this project was staggering. New plumbing, new HVAC, new windows, new ceilings, electrical upgrades, new doors, new drywall, new flooring, and new finishes were just some of the items that had to be completed for 324 dorm rooms, 18 main bathrooms, 19 RA bathrooms, 20 hallways and 18 lounges.

"This is an investment in our distinctive learning-living environment," University of Dayton President Daniel J. Curran said. "The university is fiscally sound and moving forward based on strong enrollment, record research and strong financial management."

Ferguson Construction Company recently performed upgrades to both Stuart and Virginia W. Kettering halls. “We are excited that the University of Dayton chose Ferguson to be a part of these projects. Ferguson shares the University’s commitment to utilize resources within the Dayton region and contribute to the local economy,” said Martin L. Given, President of Ferguson Construction.

About 90 Ferguson employees worked on the projects, according to Douglas L. Fortkamp, Vice President of Operations. “We also issued almost 30 subcontracts to local companies for these projects, keeping the construction work in the Dayton region.”
