The Buckeye Village Student Family Community Center at the Ohio State University is a 2-story structure built with a steel frame and brick and metal walls.
The 28,000 square foot building is y-shaped with three open corridors that meet in the structure's center, which features a sky-lighted atrium and polished checkerboard terrazzo floors.
The community center houses the Buckeye Village administrative offices and the OSU Childcare Center and provides Buckeye Village residents with a variety of support services, including childcare, counseling, educational mentoring, financial planning and employment assistance, as well as workshops for parenting and leadership development.
This facility is the winner of the 2006 Place Design Award, awarded by the Environmental Design Research Association. The Association recognizes excellence in design of structures for human environment.
