Ferguson Construction receives national construction award

May 2010

General contractor Ferguson Construction Company has received a national award of excellence from Associated Builders and Contractors for its work with Wilson Memorial Hospital, renovating all 4 of their surgical suites.

Wilson Memorial Hospital is a full service community hospital serving residents of Shelby County, Ohio and some of the surrounding communities.  Shelby County is a rural community of 411
square miles with approximately 48,000 residents. The hospital is accredited by the Healthcare Facility Accreditation Program (HFAP). Wilson Memorial Hospital strives to provide high standards of care for outpatients, inpatients and those served in business and industry.

For nearly forty years, Wilson Memorial Hospital has performed countless surgeries in the facilities’ four surgical suites. Having operated in aging surgical suites cluttered with tanks and carts, the renovation was long overdue and gave Wilson the most advanced equipment possible for a community hospital of its size.

Ferguson Construction Company built a completely new operating environment for patients and their surgeons this year. One-by-one the four operating rooms were gutted and re-constructed to allow for built-in technology to enhance the quality of patient care and ease of use for surgeons and surgical staff.

The project was completed in seven phases, allowing for 3 of the 4 operating rooms to be functioning at all times. A central utilities boom was installed in each room, which brought all services to the operating table and freed up valuable floor space. Strict infection control measures were maintained at all times.

Completing the entire project without any infectious control breaches, Ferguson Construction’s outstanding performance keeping operating rooms available at this rural community hosptital at all times throughout  the project made this healthcare renovation worthy of a national award of excellence.
