WHAC Eagle Award
September 2008
The Woody Hayes Athletic Center at the Ohio State University was entered for an award by Ferguson Construction Company for the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Association of Builders and Contractors.
The Woody Hayes Athletic Center won an Award of Excellence for 2007 in the Colleges and Universities category, beating out all other entries submitted by the 306 members of the Ohio Valley Chapter. (Members can submit as many projects as they would like, however, not all members submit projects to the Awards Program).
The Association of Builders and Contractors is a national association representing nearly 28,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 78 chapters across the United States. ABC's membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry. The number of members of the Ohio Valley Chapter of ABC currently stands at 306.
The Association of Builders and Contractors sponsors a yearly Excellence in Construction Awards Program which starts at the chapter level. The Excellence in Construction Awards Program recognizes superior performance in the field of commercial construction. Submissions for an award must be comprehensive, and include detailed information about the project, including scope, photos, a detailed narrative about the construction process, and construction safety. Winning projects demonstrate the innovation, quality and talent of those who participate, including owners, craft professionals, architects and support personnel.
