Ferguson company history
Ferguson Construction Company was established in 1920 in Sidney, OH as a general contractor working in the institutional, commercial and industrial markets. Ferguson has grown to four locations: Sidney, Dayton, Columbus, Ohio and Columbus, Indiana.
Ferguson is relationship-based company with an experienced staff of approximately 310 employees. Approximately 70% of Ferguson's volume is with repeat customers.
The company has its own design staff of architects and engineers, including site engineers. Proficiency in design-build construction has stimulated much of Ferguson's growth over the years.
Ferguson self-performs concrete, carpentry, masonry and steel erection, which reduces costs and improves quality control and scheduling during the construction process. Ferguson is committed to a formal Continuous Improvement Program, a comprehensive safety program, in-house training (craft, supervisory, safety), mentoring, aptitude testing and drug testing.
Ferguson applied to OSHA for a VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) audit and was accepted into the VPP program with a STAR rating in 2004. The VPP STAR award is recognition by OSHA that only a few contractors in the state of Ohio have achieved. Companies in the STAR program have high safety standards and have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average and are self-sufficient in their ability to control workplace hazards.
Select Ferguson employees have obtained their Healthcare Construction Certificate from ASHE. The ASHE (American Society for Healthcare Engineering) program is designed to meet the unique needs of the healthcare construction industry and encompasses the latest trends in design and compliance issues facing healthcare providers.
Ferguson also has LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified professionals through the U.S. Green Building Council available to assist in green building initiatives.
Because of Ferguson's financial strength and construction safety track-record, the company is one of just a few in the State of Ohio that self-insures Worker's Compensation.
Ferguson considers itself both a large and a small company with the ability to handle various project sizes. Ferguson's goal on every project is to perform at a level which exceeds expectations.
